Kids in the hall
Could this be the day? I have been a hall monitor in Warman High since I started at YFC in Oct. I have been trying to get out of this gig because I want to focus on the inner city of Saskatoon. But I have had a heck of a time trying to get out of this. Don't get me wrong I don't mind doing it, it is just frustrating that every time I try to talk to the principle he is not around. I need to talk to this guy because I have a replacement waiting in the wings, my co-worker Ryan Ens, who is doing some ministry work in Warman. So I am hopeful that this could be the big day. I will keep you all posted on this unfolding drama that I find myself in. Peace.

Bummed Out
It's a sad day here at YFC as I have learned that a co-worker will be moving to a different job. This is sad for a couple of reasons. First, he is a great guy with a good sense of humor. Second, he is very gifted and it will suck to not have have his gifts and abilities on our team. He started not long after Barb started at YFC, which was about five years ago. I don't know, I feel kind of bummed about the whole thing. It's not going to be the same here anymore, especially with us moving to a new building. His leadership will be missed.
Random Thoughts
The Olympics have now come and gone once again. I was really proud of the Canadian team this year, they did fantastic. Canada's best ever showing at a winter games. Aside from men's hockey I think the Canadian's looked really good. What was interesting was that Canada led in fourth place finishes as well, this could be a good thing in 2010 in Vancouver. Nhl starts up tommorrow night. I have to say that I am a bit bummed because my Canucks are in tough, losing two of their top four defenseman. This is not good considering that Ed Jovanovski is still out. I'm not sure what Dave Nonis will do as the trade deadline is coming up in a week or so. At the beginning of the year I was really hopeful about the Canucks chances at a cup run, but that was quickly put to rest with all the injuries we have sustained, not to mention the lack of production from the "top line". I have no problem with Marcus Naslund, since he has been hurt much of the year and still has produced. Bertuzzi and Morrison on the other hand have looked uninspired through much of the year. Bertuzzi I acn understand but Morrison has not looked good.
Had a really good weekend with my family. Being a dad becomes more fun all the time. I love spending time with my son. He's Rad. God has been very good. I have seen him work an awful lot lately, which has been really cool. God is working in the hearts of the young men that I work with at the Bridge on 20th, which is a fellowship center located in the inner city. I am excited what God is going to do in their lives. Praise God - He is worthy.

Inner city vs. Outer city
I watched the move Tupac: Resurrection on the weekend. I really enjoyed the movie. One thing that I didn't really like was the fact that they made Tupac look like some kind of superhero, I will agree that he had a lot of good things to say, I just thought that it was a little much. One comment that he made was the inner city should be called the Outer city because they are excluded and are considered outcasts by society, as opposed to those who live in the burbs and would be considered the in crowd (hence the inner/outer city). It's funny with today's youth, particularily the suburban youth who dress, act, talk like people in the ghetto, yet they would most likely never set foot in the hood. A large portion of hip hop record sales are to rich white kids. It's real interesting how hip hop is influencing our culture. The more and more that I learn the more intrigued I am.

Canada Looking Stronger
Wow, Canada is coming on! I can't believe that the American Women's Hockey team lost to Sweden. I don't want to assume anything, but gold is looking very good for the Canadian women. We also got two medals in the skeleton. Is this a new olympic sport? Whatever it is I will certainly take the three medals we have earned in this event. Did anybody see the Amrican snowboarder showboat near the finish line only to biff and lose the gold medal? Ah, I laughed and I cried. Very funny stuff. This has not been a very good 24 hours for American women at all. It's all good though. I'm giving my first talk tonight at the Bridge D4 that I lead every friday. OOh exciting stuff. I neeed prayer. But mostly those kids need prayer. God is good.

My first Post, although I've hit a few hockey posts in my day!
Hey there folks. This is my first ever post. The Canucks arn't playing so I have nothing to complain about. Team Canada is looking good so far. Bertuzzi is looking good, which makes me a little mad. This guy is makes me frustrated. He is my favorite player, yet I get so upset with all the dumb penalties and lack of effort. Anyway I want to use this post to share my thoughts on the world, my life, and God.
